Businessman Nigel Le Quesne has bought a 25% stake in the holding company that owns League One club Northampton Town.

Jersey-based Le Quesne is chief executive of the JTC Group and has been a Tottenham Hotspur season ticket holder for many years.

He has been in talks with the Cobblers for nine months and has acquired 25% of Northampton Town Ventures Ltd.

He will join the board of directors at Sixfields and chairman Kelvin Thomas said they had a "shared vision".

Thomas continued: "He has been interested in getting involved in a club for a while and really likes what he has seen at Northampton Town.

"We will look to draw on his experience especially in the areas of governance and business strategy. We are pleased he has been able to see what we have achieved so far with the club and wants to be a part of the future development."

Getting involved in Northampton 'makes a lot of sense' for Quesne

The Cobblers were promoted from League Two last season and are currently 11th in the third tier under boss Jon Brady, with their status secured for 2024-25.

Northampton Town Ventures is the club's majority shareholder and Le Quesne has already been listed as a director on the Companies House website.

He previously owned Jersey Wanderers for 10 years and JTC have more recently been the main sponsor of Jersey Bulls FC, who play in the Combined Counties League Premier South division.

"Having played, watched and loved football all my life and having also been lucky enough to build and develop some successful businesses, I have always been very interested in how both football and business combine in England and therefore an involvement in a club makes a lot of sense," he said.external-link

"I have been particularly impressed with the work in the community at Northampton Town as this is very important to me and I look forward to working closely with everyone at the club to continue the forward momentum it seems to have.

"Having been at the Fleetwood match at Sixfields just before Christmas I have seen first hand the impact and connection the club has with the fanbase, and I am really looking forward to learning more and using my experience to support the strategic development of the club in many areas.

"Since that game, and while the conversations were getting more serious, I have taken a very keen interest in the results and performances, watching most games on iFollow, and it's been great to see how the whole club has worked together to produce the results they have this season."
