Leeds United ready to cash in on academy product this January

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United are ready to cash in on 24-year-old loaned out defender Lewie Coyle this January, despite continuing his strong performances while out on loan with League One side Fleetwood Town.

Leeds United are ready to move loaned out defender Lewie Coyle out on a permanent basis in the January transfer window, having sent him out on loan three times in the past three seasons.

Loan club Fleetwood Town are said to be interested in bringing him in on a permanent basis having had the Whites academy graduate with them for some time now and Joey Barton could be the man to offer him a route away from Elland Road in January.

Coyle has spent the last two-and-a-half years out on loan with Fleetwood Town, impressing for the League One side in that time. Coyle has played a total of 110 times for the Cod Army along the way, providing 14 assists along the way.

The 24-year-old has shown versatility in his time with Fleetwood, playing at right-back, right-midfield and even in the middle of the park as a centre-back or central midfielder on a few occasions. This versatility a trait that you would’ve thought would appeal to Bielsa, but after first joining the club as a youngster back in 2004, Coyle’s time at Elland Road could be set to come to an end.

Coyle made his breakthrough into the Leeds United senior side under Steve Evans, going onto played 23 times for the Whites. But, it seems unlikely that he will be adding to that total with Leeds ready to listen to offers.
