Liverpool boss provides update on Leeds United and Swansea City target

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on striker Rhian Brewster following speculation regarding his immediate future and confirmed he will only leave on loan ‘for the right club’ according to the Liverpool Echo.

Leeds United, Swansea City and Aston Villa have all been credited with an interest in taking Brewster on loan for the second half of the campaign but Klopp has insisted that he will only depart if the deal is right.

Klopp has made no secret of the fact that he is a huge admirer of Brewster but he is willing to allow him to leave on loan providing he is reassured that the youngster will feature heavily in matches and receive regular playing time.

Brewster made the step up to the senior side over the summer after recovering from a a long injury lay-off but the teenager is yet to make his Premier League debut, having featured just twice in Carabao Cup wins over MK Dons and Arsenal.

The Liverpool boss has claimed that they could look to sign a striker should they allow Brewster to leave in the January transfer window. “Yes, we have to see. We can’t just give the boys away on loan because we have built this squad.”

“We have three long-term injuries and four with Paul Glatzel, two of them were pre-season. Two came later with Joel Matip and Fabinho.”

“That gives us a 16-player squad and I count the kids, but we cannot only give players on loan and think it is good for him, we always have to consider both situations.”

“The boys and ours, and in the end, we try to make the perfect solution. Sometimes it works out, others it does not.”

“Rhian is very young, but still a bit advanced, but I don’t know, we don’t make decisions right now. If we do loan him then it 100 per cent needs to be the right club.”

It does indeed appear that Klopp is keen to loan out the striker but Leeds will need to ensure another situation like Eddie Nketiah doesn’t happen where the loan man has barely featured for Marco Bielsa’s side.
